anuprasthā

 Anuprasthā (अनुप्रस्था) is a Sanskrit term meaning "to start after another" or "to follow," formed from the prefix anu (after, following) and the root √sthā (to stand or to place) and also conveys the causative sense "to cause to follow."


Etymology and Structure


Anuprasthā is a compound of:

  • anu (अनु) meaning "after," "along," or "following"
  • sthā (स्था) the root verb meaning "to stand" or "to place."

This can also take a causative form, -sthāpayati, meaning “to cause 
someone or something to follow”.
